Douglas Partners Supports Commonwealth Games 2026 Venue Design with Ground Information

We are proud to offer our professional geotechnical expertise to support the design process of the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026 venues in Waurn Ponds and Armstrong Creek, near Geelong.

Geotechnical Works in Progress

Currently, our Geelong-based team is conducting geotechnical works at the venue sites, as highlighted in a recent article published in Geelong Times.

Our ongoing operations include drilling boreholes and conducting excavations at various locations, such as the Armstrong Creek Town Centre for the outdoor aquatics centre and the vicinity of Waurn Ponds railway station for the gymnastics and weightlifting venue.

In-Depth Insights

In addition to drilling along the planned access roads, we are specifically targeting areas beneath the pools themselves. To ensure a thorough understanding of the ground conditions below the diving pool's base, certain boreholes will reach greater depths.

To confirm the ground conditions, physical samples of soil and rock beneath the surface are being analysed by our trusted Laboratory in Melbourne.
