Dr. Dawit Bekele is an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant with over 20 years of experience in conducting and directing research on the assessment, remediation, and management of contaminated sites. He has a proven track record of providing high-level technical advice to stakeholders and delivering pragmatic solutions to complex environmental challenges.
At Douglas Partners, Dawit is responsible for planning, directing, and delivering solutions to complex environmental challenges in collaboration with project managers and specialists across Australia. He specializes in the assessment of the fate of hazardous chemicals in the subsurface, groundwater flow, and solute transport modeling. He has extensive experience in vapor intrusion site investigation, modeling, and exposure assessments for both chlorinated and petroleum hydrocarbons.
Dawit has been involved in working on Audit teams as a specialist advisor for EPA accredited Site Contamination Auditors and has been involved in Audited contaminated site assessments. He is driven by his years of research and technical skills to find scientifically-based solutions that are acceptable for all stakeholders.
Dawit has conducted research in the field of modeling fate and transport of contaminants in the subsurface and developing innovative technology for managing contaminated sites. He is the author of five book chapters and has published 25 peer-reviewed journal articles, and presented dozens of research papers at national and international conferences. He is a Certified Environmental Practitioner (1364) and an EIANZ Certified Site Contamination Specialist (SC41149).
