Arthur Castrissios

Principal / Geotechnical Engineer

Arthur is a Principal of Douglas Partners with more than 25 years of experience in geotechnical engineering consulting.

Arthur commenced employment with Douglas Partners in January 1995 after completing a Bachelor of Engineering Degree with Honours at the University of New South Wales. During his time at university, he was a cadet engineer with the Roads and Traffic Authority in Grafton. He went onto complete a Masters of Engineering Science with Honours from UNSW in 2002.

Arthur has worked in Sydney, Melbourne, Wollongong and Campbelltown offices of Douglas Partners. He was Campbelltown (now Macarthur) office manager from 2003 to 2004 and was appointed Geotechnical Group Manager for the Wollongong office in December 2004. He was the Wollongong Branch Manager from February 2016 to July 2021.

Arthur has experience in geotechnical investigations including those for numerous multi-storey buildings in the Wollongong CBD, land capability assessments in South Western Sydney. He also has had major involvement in the investigation and ongoing geotechnical consulting for most of the major residential subdivisions that have been constructed in the Illawarra since 1995 including Shell Cove, Redgum Ridge, McCauleys Beach and Vista Park.

Arthur also has had involvement in the investigations of larger scale infrastructure projects including Port Kembla Coal Terminal, Port of Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bowral Hospitals. His broad range of experience also includes smaller scale inspections, investigations and stability assessments for residential development in the foothills of the Illawarra Escarpment.
