David Murray

Senior Associate / Geotechnical Engineer

David is a Senior Associate and Senior Engineering Geologist with over 27 years professional experience. He graduated in 1986 after completing a Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours at the University of New South Wales.

Based in Douglas Partners’ Sydney office, David has worked on projects located across metropolitan and regional New South Wales and as well as across Australia. David has a particular interest in risk assessments of natural and excavated slopes, geological mapping for large scale road, communication and energy infrastructure projects and ‘forensic’ geotechnical assessments to determine the potential causes of damage to existing structures.

Some of David’s major project experience includes geotechnical investigations and material assessments at Warragamba and Copeton Dams, RMS slope risk assessments at over 500 sites along regional highways, and geotechnical and environmental investigations for electrical transmission lines and sub-stations across TransGrid’s NSW network. Notable slope risk assessment projects has seen him working at Jenolan Caves, State Circle outside Federal Parliament, and along numerous coastal headlands stretching from Sydney’s Eastern suburbs to the Darwin CBD

David’s broader experience includes geotechnical/environmental investigation and construction advice services provided for residential and commercial developments across Sydney, along with bridge, pavement and dam investigations for regional Council’s across Western NSW.
