Huw Smith

Senior Associate / Engineering Geologist

Huw is a Senior Associate of Douglas Partners, and an Engineering Geologist with over 15 years’ experience in site investigations, engineering geology and geotechnical consulting.

Huw completed his Honours Degree (Geology) at The University of Adelaide in 2001, and went on to complete his Master of Engineering Science (Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology) at UNSW in 2015. He has completed training for the RMS Slope Risk Analysis (Version 4), and is a Registered Practicing Geologist (RPGeo) with the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.

Huw has worked in the Sydney office of Douglas Partners since July 2015, and has successfully completed geotechnical consulting work and managed multiple projects within both the Sydney region and across NSW. He has been involved with projects in the health, education, infrastructure (road, rail, airport and dams), residential and commercial sectors, including 5 years on highway and pavement investigation projects with RTA (now RMS), six months working with RMS on a slope classification project using LiDAR data, and many years on-site on the Enlarged Cotter Dam project near Canberra

Huw’s skillset lies in the areas of geological modelling, slope stability, site investigation and groundwater.

Huw is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG), and the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS).
